Update

Well,
What can i say I honestly have not been able to update this blog so in a nutshell hears a quick catch up.
On the 29th September I had my interview for WYF&RS. The interview was Ok though I think I may have babbled a bit. After the interview I was told that they would call me either way that day and if I was succesful then I would be on either the May or September course in 2009 and that I have to do a medical which would be a few months away.
At approximatly 1:30pm that day my mobile went and I answered to be told I had passed my interview andI did very well. I honestly don't think I stopped smiling for a week. So 2 months have passed and I have got my CRB form to take in and am eagerly awaiting my medical.

My best mate has just finished his training yesterday and is due to start at Osset firestation on Monday Night if his baby does not arrive. I can't believe it, I am even nervous for him.

So keep ya fingers crossed for me and I hope to be able to post on hear in the future telling you all how good the job I have wanted to do for so long is.

Well....thats the physical done

now for the interview.
Since my last post a lot has happened. I am expecting a new baby, due 4th Feb 2009. I received a letter in July telling me I had passed my written tests and stating my physical would be on the 2nd September. Finally the big day came and the nerves kicked in around 9am, I was due in at 3pm.
There were about 10 of us doing the physicals and when we had all been kitted out we were demonstrated the first test which was the ladder climb, We then went one by one and did the tests in a certain order.
thankfully i passed the lot and got told my interview would be on the 29th September at 9:00am. I am so please to have got this far and can see the finish line on the horizon. I hope to be able to update this more regulary now I have a comp at home.
So until next time wish me luck please

Still Waiting for a date for the physical

Well,
Its now June, Nearly 8 Months since i first applied to be a firefighter and I am still waiting to be told a date that I will have my physical. My best mate has his physical next thursday (4th June) so good luck buddy.
I am still trying to keep myself fit but it can be difficult finding the time with a full time job and a 14 month old daughter taking most of my time up. Still no complaints as i believe i have the fitness and the qualities to enable me to do the best job in the world.

I Just wish it would come a bit quicker thats all

Passed Written tests

Yep thats right,
I have only gone and passed my written tests, Now all i have to do is fill a medical history form out and get this back to Birkenshaw and then wait for the physicals, I am now concentrating on my fitness, I have started taking the dog for a run before going to work and then doing 30 sit-ups and 30 press ups each day.
I can start to feel it already and have only been doing it a week. BRING EM ON!
I now feel my dream of being a firefighter is now in my hands.

My comp at home has broke so can't update as much as i would like to but i will try to keep posted.
I am now starting to really concentrate on my fitness and feel i am getting fitter by the day

Well bugger me

My good friend x called me yesterday morning to say he had received a letter from WYF&RS stating he had passed the application form stage and was invited to do the next tests at the end of Jan. I am well chuffed for him. But i was a bit miffed as he put his application form in after me so this naturally got me thinking has my mine been lost or have they not replied because i have been unsucceful !!! AARRGGH!
so i rang up HR & recruitment and explained that my post had been really bad recently and my friend had received a response even though he submitted his form after myself I was concerned that a response could be delayed or even lost. The lovely lady took my name and asked my friends name and then told me if i dont get a letter within a week inviting me to the next test then i should call them and they can tell me a date to go in!!!!! BLOODY HELL ! first stage passed. (not gonna be happy until i see it in black and white though)
Now got to start studying for the written / psychometric tests and continue my fitness drive as well as trying not to count my chickens so to speak.
